Fostering internal innovation and growth
The announcement reflects Sumer’s commitment to nurturing internal innovation and development.
Mairi McInnes joins as Internal Communications Lead. She will collaborate with regional Hubs and their leadership teams, leading Sumer’s innovative communications framework, and paving the way for better internal performance, faster innovations and an elevated employee experience.
With a historical ambition for growth, Mairi has worked with world-class C-Suite leadership teams, across FTSE 100 businesses within finance, and technology and civil service.
Across the people team, Emily McCollum joins Sumer as Talent Acquisition Sourcing Partner. With a proven track record of leading full-cycle recruitment for high-growth organisations, McCollum will be pivotal in helping Sumer Hubs grow, by crafting strategies to attract and retain colleagues, across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Sumer announced the creation of its People and Culture team in June, 2024. The expansion will also bolster Sumer’s internal wellness policies, including ‘flex your way’, which harnesses freedom and flexibility for Sumer’s 1600-strong team.
Gill Peden, People and Culture Transformation Director, said:
“As our business continues to grow, so must our focus on nurturing our people. We’ve always valued a small business mindset, with big ambitions for our team. By welcoming Mairi and Emily, we are not only reinforcing our internal foundations but also fostering a stronger, more adaptable culture. This will empower both new and current colleagues to thrive and work in ways that best support mutual success.“
Commenting on her new role, Mairi McInnes, Internal Communications Lead adds:
“Sumer is as deeply committed to empowering its people as it is about driving the business forward. I’ve always been passionate about amplifying the voices of my colleagues and nurturing meaningful, supportive relationships in the workplace. Joining Sumer has allowed me to pursue this focus, while also maintaining the balance of being an engaged parent—an invaluable, and rare opportunity in UK workplaces.”
